About
by Rosebud
I've
been handcrafting clothing and accessories for as long
as I can remember--since my Grandma Jessie taught me
to knit at age 6. I frequently wish she were here to
see me now. The love and respect for skilled hands that
she instilled in me has flourished. Now I'm of a certain
age with three kids of my own and am trying to marry
the love of craft with the needs of family; translation:
I keep my hands busy by creating clothes for my
children--clothes that are creative and unique, but
not at the expense of comfort or ease of care. Eventually
so many other parents asked about my kids' clothes that
I began making them for friends, and friends of friends
. . . . Now I've decided to expand to on-line sales.
I pre-wash all fabrics to prevent shrinkage and dye-bleeding. All wearables are machine washable and dryable.
I recommend washing in a cold gentle cycle to prevent
damage to delicate buttons (whenever present) and to
preserve the vivid colors of the fabrics. If you need to, though,
they can be thrown in a regular load with the
kids' other clothes. Likewise, I favor line drying,
or at least air-fluff, but the garments can withstand
a regular dryer cycle.
A note on sizing: by Rosebud sizes are fairly
loosey goosey. The clothes are intentionally made to
last, evolving into new styles as your child grows to
new sizes. For example, the reversible jackets are made
with extra-long sleeves: they can be worn with the cuffs
rolled to show the contrasting fabric inside, they can
be worn unrolled, or even at three-quarter length; the
bodies are designed to be roomy and loose fitting. The
dresses are similarly flexible: what was once a dress
for your toddler evolves into a tunic to wear over jeans,
and then into a regular sleeveless summer shirt.
When you order, I will ship the garment by USPS(s) priority
mail within three days. If you see a garment that you
like, but not the size you need, you can contact me
to discuss a custom order.
I am a small business owner and my name is about all
I have of value. It's important to me that you are happy
with your purchase, and, hopefully, that you will readily
recommend my wares to friends and family. If you have
a question or concern about your purchase, please contact
me. Because these items are unique and custom-made,
I don't accept returns unless you need a different size or the garment has a material defect; such returns must
occur within 30 days of receipt. I am happy to address
any other problems that arise (and may they be few!)
on a case-by-case basis.
I am very excited to be offering my designs and handiwork
to the public. I love to see other kids wearing my stuff.
But rest assured, you won't find another child at a
birthday party wearing the same garment as your child;
I sew each fabric combination in a run of sizes from
xs - l sizes, with one of each size. That's it. There
are four garments like your child's out in the world,
but no other child the same age will have one. When
you purchase a by Rosebud garment, you are getting something
I designed and sewed myself. Ideally, wouldn't all our
children wear garments created in this way? The same goes for the quilts: I sew each one myself, from start to finish, and no two are alike.
Thanks for visiting!
